Ex Situ Conservation of Atriplex taltalensis I.M. Johnst. via In Vitro Culturing of Its Axillary Shoots

Atriplex taltalensis is an endangered shrub endemic to northern Chile. Sparse populations of this species can be found in areas with extreme edaphoclimatic conditions the Atacama desert, and its seeds have a poor germination rate. Consequently, mass-cultivating it challenging. In study, vegetative propagation mechanisms A. were evaluated using vitro culture aid their conservation. shoot explants treated two phytoregulators, indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP), assess morphogenic responses effects on species, based multiplication, elongation, rooting, through subculturing. During treatment IBA alone efficiently promoted explant lateral root formation, axillary proliferation, allowing for rapid development shoots into whole plants. Alternatively, BAP combination stimulated proliferation basal little elongation rooting hyperhydricity at 0.25–1 mg L−1 concentrations. Thus, we conclude that viable plant tissue multiplication system, method could conservation rescue programs.
